Last Shot

A nonfiction account of the lives of several young men living in Coney Island who see basketball, and their dream of becoming professional players, as their only escape from poverty. The boys all attend Abraham Lincoln High School and although many are talented on the basketball court, the author charges that their school system works against them and provides them with no solid educational background as they try to make it through the rough world of college athletic recruitment.
